– plan provision is looking at services we have in place to see if they are working effectively. It is also highlighting gaps to see where the services are going wrong. Plan provision is also putting more services in place if they are required an example of this is to help ease pressures on other services (such as A&E), to allow everyone in society to get the health and social care they need and to stop any other tragedies or incidents occurring such as staff abusing patients. Allow progress to be monitored

– Allow progress to be monitored is looking back at previous years to see what improvements have been made from then till now, how effective those improvements have been and then look to build upon them. Progress can be monitored via surveys and interviews (this is your primary data) or through looking at articles and results which others have found and published (this is your secondary data). Keeping up to date records, registers and data is also a vital way to monitor progress.

Monitoring progress is key when ensuring a hospital is running efficiently, monitoring is used to see how long patients remain in hospital once they are medically fit for discharge and the reason for any delays. This kind of monitoring helps to highlight the inefficiency of certain areas within the hospital such as a delay caused because a patient was waiting for a social work assessment or therapy equipment to be supplied.
