I think the kind of advertising that I fall for most is the false dilemma type. Like with shampoo. They tell us that we need to wash all of the nasty gunk and dirt out of our hair. Then next thing you know you shouldn’t wash your hair as often because it’s actually bad for you.  It will dry out your hair. I find that I get trapped when I know i didn’t really have a problem before and an ad makes me think oh now I do have a problem. What do ya know the only solution to that problem is their product.

I think about the Dr. Squatch commercials when I think about ads that I fall for most. My deodorant works just fine but they make me think there is something wrong with it. It works really well on me. I go on rants looking at the ingredients on all of the stuff I get now. I don’t use their products, but they have made me look at the stuff I use on my body completely differently than I used to. I am not on social media for that reason. I believe it isn’t good for you because places like Instagram can literally sell your information and most liked stuff to companies for them to run you specific ads. I am very easily swayed especially when it comes to food. Every time I see a big lighted up Taco Bueno sign, I pull in 80 percent of the time.

Reply B Daizie

Advertising is something I see everyday. I am active on social media and I check my accounts  consistently throughout the day. I fall most for advertisements about clothes or accessories. I already have a passion for clothes and making outfits so it is hard to look past the ads. Personally I tend to be more convinced with videos instead of pictures. For example, I will scroll on tik tok and see videos of someone unboxing new shoes and people will comment and say things like “i just bought these” or “I have these and wear them everyday”. I think I fall for it because I am seeing an actual person wear the item which gives me a better idea of how it would look on me. Just the other day I saw a video about this girl who bought Bluetooth headphones and she decorated them really cute, which then made me look on Amazon for some. I did end up buying them when I didn’t need them so I did fall for it haha.

I didn’t really think about advertisement until this forum. After thinking about the questions, I thought about past time’s time when I would go look at websites or online shop after seeing an ad. Now I am aware and know that my response to advertisement is impulse buying. I think once you have money of your own everything is appealing. Sometimes I know I don’t need something and will think to myself “well if you really wanted it you can get it”. I also believe the internet algorithm is also a huge advertisement. There have been times where I was specifically looking for something and then a few days later I will see ads about it. They pop up on Instagram the most for me. It’s kind of crazy how the internet knows exactly what your looking for.

Report to Your Supervisor:

Writing Assignment #4 Report to Your Supervisor

Summary of the Assignment: • Task: In this assignment, you will write a short report to the owner of a company to which you

have just been hired.

• Length: 1200-1500 words, single-spaced

• Graphics: You must integrate at least one graphic

• Sources: You will integrate at least three sources into the report.

The Situation and Your Role In It You have been hired for the position of Manager for Customer Service at Lawn and Order Services, a

landscaping company.

Lawn and Order maintains a robust business in landscaping both residential and business properties. The

company has many clients in the local DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area.

The landscaping staff that services residential and business properties comprises 75 individuals. In

addition, the company has several staff working in its office in Landover, Maryland. Included among

these office staff members is the IT Department, which consists of 10 employees.

The growth of the company has led to some problems that concern you as a new employee.

The History of Lawn and Order Services

Some history on the company will help to explain the problems Lawn and Order has now.

Lawn and Order started off in 2010 as a small outfit, owned and operated by Chris Taylor. Chris grew up

in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He graduated from high school and took a few courses at a local

community college. He never graduated from the community college but instead, after completing 18

credits, decided to leave school to start a landscaping business.

Chris started off the business with one truck, three lawn mowers, and a few helpers. He operated the

business out of his house. Eventually, as the number of clients grew, so did the number of trucks, lawn

mowers, and pieces of equipment. He added new employees to assist with the landscaping.

Chris eventually leased office space in Landover in order to have a more professional and scalable base

from which to operate the company. In addition, as the company grew and its office staff grew, so did the

technology and IT needs.

For the IT needs of the company, Chris took several steps. He hired a web developer, Sandra Davidson,

to develop a website for Lawn and Order. Sandra used WordPress as the platform. Chris later hired Jack

Johnson to develop and maintain a database of customers, past and present. The database includes

personal information on the customers, such as physical addresses, email addresses, and, for some, credit

card information.

Eventually, Chris hired a few more IT employees, all of whom persuaded Chris to put the company’s

database on the cloud instead of purchasing an expensive server to maintain in the office. Chris agreed.

The company then contracted with CloudSecure, a local cloud company.

The IT Department grew as the company grew. Marsha Nolton was later hired. She maintains the

company blog, also on WordPress, but with a different account from that of the website. The blog is an

effective marketing tool. It provides weekly updates on services, deals, and other information on the

company. In addition, other functions began to involve IT. Jared Stone was hired to run payroll for Lawn

and Order. With Jared’s input, the payroll information was put on the cloud. CloudSecure maintains all

payroll information on its servers.

Problems That Have Developed

Chris, in hiring the IT staff and organizing the department, was not privy to best practices in security in

the area of IT. As a result, some problems have developed.

For example, only Jack has access to the database of past and present clients. Jack logs into the system

with an ID and password that CloudSecure has provided him. This is not an ideal situation. If Jack were

to experience a medical emergency and become unavailable for a period of time, no one else at Lawn and

Order Services would have access to the database. If Jack were to leave the company, no one else at

Lawn and Order Services would be able to peform his duties. In addition, CloudSecure has a company

policy that forbids it to provide login or password information to anyone other than approved individuals.

The only approved individual now is Jack.

Morever, Sandra maintains the website through WordPress. She uses her personal email and password to

log into the system. But she is the only individual in the office who has access to or is able to update

anything on the website. Again, if anything were to happen to Sandra, Lawn and Order would be stuck.

No one else in the company can update its website.

Marsha manages the company’s blog, also on WordPress. The blog is an excellent marketing tool, with

weekly updates on services, deals, and other information on the company posted weekly. However,

Marsha is the sole maintainer of the blog. No one else at Lawn and Order has access to the blog to update

it.

Jared runs payroll. Like the others, he is the only individual with any access to the payroll records.

Because the records are also on CloudSecure, if something were to happen to Jack, no options are

available for anyone else in the company to access the payroll records.

Overall, Lawn and Order grew at a rapid pace. Chris Taylor applied excellent management skills in

growing the landscaping business. However, Chris needs help in establishing responsible IT personnel

policies for the company. Chris has no background in this area.

Chris is not aware of the problem the current arrangement poses.

Your Concern About the Situation

As a new hire at Lawn and Order, you have observed this situation, and you are concerned. The current

arrangement leaves the company in a very vulnerable situation if one of these individuals experiences a

medical emergency or has to leave the company for any reason.

In addition, the current arrangement poses a cybersecurity danger to the company. Any one individual, if

he or she is dissatisfied with the company or becomes disgruntled for any reason, can take advantage of

Lawn and Order and do great damage with the IT function the individual controls.

For example, personal data on customers resides with CloudSecure’s servers, which only Jack Johnson

can access. If Jack were to develop a toxic relationship with the company, Jack could use his sole access

to customer records and wreak havoc with them, possibly manipulating the company with his control or

simply compromising the privacy of the customers. Lawn and Order, not Jack, would be liable in such a

situation.

As Manager for Customer Service, you realize that many of the potential problems that could arise at

Lawn and Order will have an impact on your area. Customers will not have records updated, will not be

billed on time, will not receive blog updates, and will be impacted in other ways if any of the situations

described above occur.

Moreover, if customers’ records are compromised, you will have a customer service crisis on your hands.

Please turn to the next page.

Your Task You are to write a short report to Chris Taylor, the owner, and point out the problem with the

current personnel policies at Lawn and Order. You also want to suggest some basic steps the

company take take to address the situation before a problem arises.

Some concepts and strategies you might want to point out to Chris include the following:

• separation of duties

• mandatory vacations

• job rotation policies

• agreements with vendors, including password and other login information

• IT confidentiality agreements

Your report will

• be 1200-1500 words in length.

• incorporate at least three references.

o Integrate more than three references if you would like.

o Cite and list them in APA 7th edition style.

• include at least one graphic. The graphic should demonstrate either the current personnel

arrangement (and the problems it poses) or your proposed personnel arrangement (and how it

addresses the current problems) or both. Of course, if you would like to include more than one

graphic, you may do so.

You will need to apply the following Golden Rules of Technical Communication:

• Rule #1: Paper is Permanent. Make sure your word forms are accurate and your grammar and

mechanics are correct. Others in the company in addition to Chris might see your memo. It is

not only Chris who might be judging your message based on the quality of your writing.

• Rule #2: Know your Audience.

o Keep in mind that you are writing to Chris Taylor. He is your primary audience. He is

not an IT expert, nor is he a human resources professional. In addition, consider his

education level and his lack of acumen for IT-related matters.

o Note that Chris is your boss. You are writing to a superior about a problem that he does

not realize is a problem.

o Understand that, while Chris is your primary audience, other members of the IT team are

secondary audiences. They might see your memo eventually.

▪ Consider their level of education. Some of them have bachelor’s or master’s

degrees.

▪ Don’t offend them. You don’t want to write anything that would cause a

problem between you and members of the IT Department if they see your memo.

• Rule #4: Break It Out. Instead of writing long, thick, dense paragraphs, you want to write

readable text.

o Bullet information in places if necessary

o Write short, crisp sentences that are readable.

o Write short paragraphs rather than long ones, as you deem necessary.

Use your judgment about how to break out your text as you consider the rhetorical situation.

• Rule #7: Signpost. Use headings to help Chris navigate your document. Provide a table of

contents to help Chris see the different sections of your report and help him to find them easily.

• Rule #9: Contemplate Before You Illustrate. As you construct your graphic, make sure it adds

to your document and does not simply dress up the document. Consider how best to illustrate the

current problem or the possible solution with your graphic(s).

• Rule #10. Cut the Fluff. Chris is a busy business owner. He is not expecting your report. He

has not budgeted time in his schedule to read it. You will need to communicate the current

problem and suggest an alternative to it without getting wordy or including information that is not

helpful to your purpose.

How the Report Should Be Organized

Your short report will have the following sections:

• Memo (written to Chris Taylor) – no more than 150 words

• Executive Summary – no more than 250 words

• Table of Contents

• The Problem

• Suggested Solution

• Conclusion – no more than 200 words

• References

Due Date: Your instructor will notify you of the due date. You will write a first draft, your instructor will comment

on the first draft, and you will submit a second draft using the comments as your guide.

The bulk of the report will be The Problem and Suggested Solution. These

two sections together should compose half or more of the length of the report.

Components Necessary for a Market:

Question 1

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

  • Discuss the main components necessary for a market to occur.
  • Discuss a market you have recently participated in, either professionally or personally. Why is it important for you to take part in this market, and what differentiates it from other markets?

RESPONSE TO THE FOLLOWING STUDENTS POST.

Yesenia post

Market is a place that two or more parties are able to meet or use to engage in an economics transaction. Markets involve services, goods, currency, and information which can pass along from one to another. Some examples of markets can be coffee, eBay, online, rice, tv, and stores. Markets are not labeled to one physical or geographical location. The main components have three components, which are goods and services market at the other end, the companies that are making the products, and factor market at one end. The market is the law of demand and supply which manages the production of goods and services. The market I have recently participated in was using the market store like Target and other stores. It is important for me to take part in this market because I was looking for a faster delivery time and this specific store was able to provide me the products sooner then need to wait. It was different from other markets because it allowed me to purchase the products the same day to be delivered and other markets were not able to provide that service.

Kenneth post

A market is where groups can get together and exchange things and/or services and engage in economic activity. The groups involved are usually buyers and sellers. A market could consist of a literal retail market or more of a virtual market, like online. There also could be illegal markets, financial and/or auction markets. The parts of a market include an area to sell the goods, sellers and buyers, and the product or objects being sold.

There could be a farmers’ market, a housing market or an online market like craigslist or eBay. I’d much rather be involved in a farmers’ market myself because I can actually interact with the seller and the consumer, like myself, can give feedback and be face-to-face. Ebay is ok, I’ve done a couple transactions on there. There’s a lot of steps along the way so both parties feel secure. The differentiation between the two for them is the human contact or the lack thereof. There are many examples of markets and pretty much it just involves the trade of economic activities between groups of people.

Critical Path:

DQR Week 4 Seminar PM

In response to your peers, note the points upon which you agree and diverge regarding a particular methodology and discuss those points. Again, support your position with specific examples from your own experience or from your research.

Colton Brannon

The Critical Path (CP) project methodology helps to determine the sequence of dependent tasks allowing project managers to better prioritize, build schedules, and more. Dependent tasks, meaning tasks that are required before another task can begin, can fall into the categories of finish to start, finish to finish, start to start, and start to finish. These phrases identify the order of tasks to be completed and affect the start of each task. A few advantages of this method include easier prioritization, better risk detection, and the ability to adapt. Since it is understood which tasks have to be completed before starting another, they can be prioritized. Additionally, risks can be clear since they know which path the project will be following along. Finally, with CP allows for the schedule to be changed, if necessary, with the ability to see outcomes and make the best decision. Some disadvantages include complexity and applicability. The CP method revolves around many tasks and moving pieces requiring difficult calculations and the ability for human error. On the other hand, this method is not for every project. If there is not a clear structure to completing the project, this method may not be useful (Ramos, 2022).

The Critical Chain (CC) methodology is similar to CP as it focuses on the series of dependent tasks that must be completed for a project to be successful. The CC method, however, focuses on resources to buffer the timeline and therefore determines a success factor on the usefulness of these buffered resources. This method can be useful in reducing the time and cost of a project while allowing for problems to be detected quickly. Advantages include accelerating execution and reducing capital needs while disadvantages may include difficulty to grasp and required dedication. Overall CP and CC are similar, but CC operates with buffers and revolves more strongly around resources (Hlioui, 2020).

The third method agile, allows for continuous customer involvement through incremental delivery of project demands. This method is beneficial when there is uncertainty, unknowns, and room to work. By working with the client often things can be changed quickly to reflect the wants and needs from the customer. Agile advantages include fewer wasted resources, quick feedback, and the ability to experiment or create new ideas. Some of the disadvantages include increased effort due to constant interaction, inability to multitask projects due to constant attention needed on agile, and lack of design or knowledge of the project (Olic, 2020).

The criteria for the methods above can be unique to each situation as the task at hand and knowledge known differs every time. CP is often linked to construction projects as construction have concrete steps that have to be followed to achieve success. For example, the foundation has to be completed before building upon it as these are dependent tasks. CC is similar but can have a wide array of projects as well. Additionally, agile is often considered for IT projects as it allows for creative minds to work and develop new ideas, however, it is moving along to many projects nowadays. Overall, each method must be carefully considered with each task as the usual situation that these methods are used in can differ at any time. If used correctly for the correct situation there is great benefit for the customer and project management team.

Response –

Emily Plante

Picking the right project management methodology is critical for executing a project successfully. There are many different methodologies that have their advantages and disadvantages. Three of these include Critical Path, Agile, and Waterfall. At the very core these methodologies are the same, they are ways of organizing a project’s sequence of events. Essentially, how the project will move from step A to step B (Westland, 2022). It’s their differences that really set them apart.

The waterfall approach is known as the most straightforward methodology. This approach flows down with each step, meaning that one step must be completed before the next one can start. This gives a very clear order of events. However, it does not allow for a lot of additional room for adjustments if needed (Westland, 2022). On the opposite end, the agile approach allows a lot of room for adjustments. This approach could be seen as more casual than the strict step to step approach of the waterfall methodology. An agile approach is fluid, there is an order of steps and what needs to happen to reach each milestone, but the order and timing of these steps is flexible. They can be moved around, sped up, or slowed down if needed (Westland, 2022).

The critical path method falls somewhere in between. The CPM takes a detailed look into each step, the amount of time needed, and compiles it into an estimate of the longest possible amount of time it would take to complete the project (Westland, 2022). It brings together the strictness of the waterfall approach by solidifying the steps and time, but there is room for flexibility as the CPM is the longest amount of time needed. Because of this, steps have the potential to be moved around and still stay within the timeframe (Westland, 2022).

What methodology is used is very dependent on the project and the project environment. For example, industries where an agile methodology works well is anything in tech, automotive, or music. These industries are always looking for the next big improvement and the agile method allows them flexibility with their projects (Westland, 2022). CPM and waterfall methodologies can both be used for smaller projects that are also very structured, construction for example (Westland, 2022). These projects tend to have a very set order of events and it could be costly for a project to deviate from the set plan. A small housing development would benefit from either method.

A small project I worked on while working in retail was a complete overhaul of the store and its products in between seasons. The waterfall methodology most closely resembled how we got the project done. We would stay after the store closed and follow a set structure of steps to get everything done. First we would work at the front of the store, take down and pack away displays and clothes not included in the new season, then refill that section starting with hanging clothes and moving to folded clothes and displays. From there we would move to the middle section, follow the same steps, and then the back sections of the store. With everyone knowing the exact steps and order it was accomplished efficiently and quickly. There was no wasted time trying to figure out who was working where and what product they needed.

How is this variable quantified? What is the potential numerical range and how is it interpreted? (i.e. how do you calculate the variable as a single numerical value to be used in SPSS for data analysis) Notes: if it is only one question, the answer will be similar to what you have as the previous answer; if scale is nominal, numbers are meaningless but necessary for SPSS so you won’t discuss the numbers in your paper but will state them here. In eleven of the questions, a numerical score for each question will be tallied then averaged to provide a specific numerical value using SPSS.
What is its scale of measurement? Scores will be between 1and 5.

The scale of measurement will be interval.

Research Design Correlational, quasi-experimental, or experimental (since you have 2 variables it will NOT be descriptive): Predictive.
Justification: Personal spirituality will affect each person’s life based on surroundings, the media, and society.
Research / Alternate Hypothesis (note this is NOT the null hypothesis). **It is common practice in the field to explicitly state the research hypothesis in the paper but statistically test the null hypothesis.
Information will be collected based on each person’s inner reflections of thoughts and feelings.

Healthcare Information Technology:

As a nurse or healthcare professional, it is important to realize that healthcare Information Technology is part of our daily living no matter which side you are on (love it or leave it). Whether as a patient or professional, you will inevitably be exposed to and interact with the system.

Therefore, which ‘side’ you are on ultimately does not matter. You must understand the steps and processes to implementation. The transformation must be embedded both at an individual, organizational, and corporate level. Indeed, it is possible that as a Master prepared healthcare professional, you might be the one responsible for creating a “tech- friendly” environment.

The text and this site explore how to create an engaging informatics culture: Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. (Note: “Nurse” in this article may be substituted by “Healthcare Professional”).

Evaluate the importance of one of the foundations for Creating an Informatics Culture. Include the following aspects in the assignment:

a) Explore the steps to support Digital Transformation

b) Explain why it is critical for professionals and healthcare organizations to have a collaborative and innovative culture

c) Create a model, using any tool you wish, to initiate an Informatics Culture in a health care organization (examples of models are found here – if you choose one, you must personalize it)

d) This is not a formal paper and there is a 2 page minimum length. Each bullet must be thoroughly explored. At all times, proper sentence structure, grammar, and spelling are required. Grammarly is a free tool to assist you. All references must be placed.

Global Burden:

This discussion focuses on the concept of disease burden, which you will learn about in-depth in Chapter 3 of the eText attached.

For this discussion, in addition to Chapter 3,  please refer to the “Global burden of 87 risk factors in 204 countries and territories” article provided in the Module 2 Learning Resources folder.  Read the article summary and peruse the article.

This is a one-page perusal of both articles to answer the three questions below.

1) What information presented in this article was most surprising to you about disease burden?

2) Why was that information surprising?

3) In your own words, explain how disease burden is measured and how it is used to define global health.

Global burden of 87 risk factors in 204 countries and territories, 1990–2019: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 GBD 2019 Risk Factors Collaborators*

Summary Background Rigorous analysis of levels and trends in exposure to leading risk factors and quantification of their effect on human health are important to identify where public health is making progress and in which cases current efforts are inadequate. The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2019 provides a standardised and comprehensive assessment of the magnitude of risk factor exposure, relative risk, and attributable burden of disease.

Methods GBD 2019 estimated attributable mortality, years of life lost (YLLs), years of life lived with disability (YLDs), and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) for 87 risk factors and combinations of risk factors, at the global level, regionally, and for 204 countries and territories. GBD uses a hierarchical list of risk factors so that specific risk factors (eg, sodium intake), and related aggregates (eg, diet quality), are both evaluated. This method has six analytical steps. (1) We included 560 risk–outcome pairs that met criteria for convincing or probable evidence on the basis of research studies. 12 risk–outcome pairs included in GBD 2017 no longer met inclusion criteria and 47 risk–outcome pairs for risks already included in GBD 2017 were added based on new evidence. (2) Relative risks were estimated as a function of exposure based on published systematic reviews, 81 systematic reviews done for GBD 2019, an
