Strong leaders do not only focus on building their own capacity; they also strive to develop leadership capacity in others. Effective leaders serve as mentors, guides, and coaches who support individuals in discovery, provide tools to help solve problems, and inspire others to make decisions, feel success, and grow in their own leadership capacity. Among the great strengths of the collaborative early childhood community are commitments to developing, supporting, and nurturing young children within early childhood classrooms and commitments to developing, supporting, and nurturing staff within early childhood programs.

For this Assignment, you will assume the role of a director of an early childhood setting of your choice. Imagine that you have just been awarded a generous grant to promote the professional development and leadership capacity of your staff. The focus of this Assignment, however, focuses less on the content of your professional development, and more on how you design professional development opportunities that serve to develop, support, and nurture staff.

To prepare:

You are encouraged to delve more deeply into the advocacy topic you selected in your Module 1 Assignment as a focus of your professional development. Your goal is to share this information with personnel/emerging leaders in your setting. If this is not pertinent to your setting, work with your instructor to identify an alternative topic.

Based on the topic you have selected, review relevant, current literature (ideally, within the past five years) to identify at least five current articles that not only provide breadth and depth for the topic you chose, but also provide information you believe is meaningful and appropriate for this particular audience.

Reflect on strategies identified within the Learning Resources that are likely to cultivate leadership capacity in your staff. Identify four to five key strategies that you would like to model or incorporate into your professional development design.

Assignment Task:

Create a tool or artifact that summarizes an experience for developing others’ leadership capacity and knowledge/skills related to the topic you chose.

Topic chosen: “ Exploring Language Development in Early Childhood Education “

· Create and write a training outline that includes the purpose of the training and a general overview of the content, including specific topics, recommended resources, coaching/mentoring activities that support implementation, and how leadership capacity will be cultivated within training activities.

Discussion 1: Leadership Theories in Practice

A walk through the Business section of any bookstore or a quick Internet search on the topic will reveal a seemingly endless supply of writings on leadership. Formal research literature is also teeming with volumes on the subject.

However, your own observation and experiences may suggest these theories are not always so easily found in practice. Not that the potential isn’t there; current evidence suggests that leadership factors such as emotional intelligence and transformational leadership behaviors, for example, can be highly effective for leading nurses and organizations.

Yet, how well are these theories put to practice? In this Discussion, you will examine formal leadership theories. You will compare these theories to behaviors you have observed firsthand and discuss their effectiveness in impacting your organization.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Resources and examine the leadership theories and behaviors introduced.
  • Identify two to three scholarly resources, in addition to this Module’s readings, that evaluate the impact of leadership behaviors in creating healthy work environments.
  • Reflect on the leadership behaviors presented in the three resources that you selected for review.
By Day 3 of Week 4

Post two key insights you had from the scholarly resources you selected. Describe a leader whom you have seen use such behaviors and skills, or a situation where you have seen these behaviors and skills used in practice. Be specific and provide examples. Then, explain to what extent these skills were effective and how their practice impacted the workplace.

As a leader, it is beneficial to have a core set of practices that can be effective in routine times and also during difficult or very challenging times. The leadership practices by Kouzes and Posner are based upon the transformational leadership model. Organizational leaders must plan to continually improve as leaders while also seeking to improve the performance of other leadership team members and of the rest of the organization. Adopting guiding principles or practices can help in the planning phases for leading when hard times occur.

Report on the strategic plan of your company. Reflect on how the strategic plan relates to the organizational structure, leadership, mission, vision and core values of the company. Discuss how strategic planning could benefit you as you engage your own personal economic life .

Strategic planning allows and assists an organization in identifying strategies that could be defined in each time frame within the organizational capacity for the execution. Acadia Healthcare has aimed at setting better standards for excellence in the treatment of addiction concerns and mental health (George, Walker & Monster, 2019). This assists the organization in making an exceptional commitment to different stakeholders such as communities, professional workers, staff, and others. Through my research I have understood that strategic planning of Acadia Healthcare enables the organization to execute better and effective stragies that are helpful in attaining the vision of the organization and stay compatible with the business environment. Strategic planning also impacts the leadership of Acadia healthcare and accordingly aligns the priorities of the organization accordingly.

 

Therefore, I have also understood that strategic planning would assist and allow Acadia Healthcare to be more proactive by setting up a better sense of direction. I have also understood that it increases the operational efficiency and this would assist Acadia Healthcare in increasing its market share and profitability in the long run (Ahmad & Ahmad, 2019). This would also help me in engage in more financial stability as well as identifying the purpose, exercising or implementing intention in achieving the required or set plan in order to accomplish the goals that I have set myself to achieve.

Strategic plans may be operationalized like improving or being proactive but the bottom line is they want to make a profit. We can improve efficiency and cut over head. We can expand and get new customers or sell more to existing customers. Go to their goals and objectives in their annual plans and tell us what their plan is.

A strategic plan is often conveyed to stockholders in their annual reports. That’s the goals and objectives that are set out. It may be a technology change to reduce overhead. Maybe sales goals? Integrity is one of those things that’s a necessity when your an insurance company. It’s not a strategic plan element. Think in terms of improving the bottom line. Only three choices, reduce overhead, aquire new customers or sell more products to existing customers. Maybe the bank is doing all of them.
