Rural Georgia Sexual Assault Center (RGSAC)

Rural Georgia Sexual Assault Center (RGSAC) serves an 8-county area in south Georgia. The University located in the direct vicinity of the organization is the largest employer in the area. RGSAC provides: direct response to victims of sexual assault, community education concerning sexual assault and its prevention, advocacy for sexual assault victims through direct services and liaison relationships (including medical, legal, social services, and law enforcement), and follow up support through referral to other community services. Their vision is to ensure than no victim of sexual assault goes unheard in a community that understands the impact of sexual violence on its members.

The organization is currently struggling to recruit and retain their volunteer base. They have 1 designated staff member who works with volunteers and can allocate 100% of his time to management and training. They have a small, limited annual budget for volunteer development and marketing. An additional challenge they face is recruiting community members as opposed to the student population who need volunteer hours.

As a consultant, you are tasked with creating a volunteer recruitment plan for RGSAC between 3 and 5 full pages (APA format) using the information you have available (In some instances, you may feel it necessary to make assumptions for this organization). Organize your plan in the following way:

Pre-Recruitment Planning;
Targeting Potential Volunteers;
Outreach and Screening; and
Follow-Up and Orientation.

Indigenous Economic Development

  1. Suppose your friend says to you “I don’t think that Indigenous peoples in Manitoba spend very much, and I’m not sure that urban reserves are contributing much to the Manitoba economy.” Please read (part or all of) the report “Indigenous Contributions to the Manitoba Economy” by Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakinak (MKO), the Southern Chiefs Organization (SCO), and Brandon’s Rural Development Institute (RDI) (posted on Nexus). How would you respond to your friend’s question? Please provide your response in approximately 1 page (single-spaced).
  2. Using the National Indigenous Economic Progress Report (2019): a. What is the ratio of average incomes between First Nations (on reserve) individuals and non-Indigenous individuals in 2015?
    b. Starting in 2015, how many years will it take to double average First Nations (on reserve) incomes if First Nations (on reserve) incomes grow at 3.0% per year? Call this number of years ‘n’.
    c. If in 2015, non-Indigenous incomes started to grow at 2% per year on average, what will non-Indigenous average incomes be after n years?
    d. After n years, what is the ratio of average First Nations (on reserve) incomes to non-Indigenous incomes?
  3. Suppose you work at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and your supervisor places slide 12 of Lecture 2 on your desk. They ask: what is the best way for water to be delivered? Based on slide 12 of Lecture 2, how would you respond?
  4. Please listen to one podcast from Media Indigena and provide a 1-page (single-spaced) summary of the episode. Then provide your opinion of the views expressed in this episode.
  5. Please choose 2 chapters from Ladner and Tait (2017) Surviving Canada: Indigenous Peoples Celebrate 50 Years of Betrayal and in less than 1 page (single-spaced), summarize the chapter, and provide your personal reaction to it. That is, address the questions: a. What are the main insights you gained from this chapter?
    b. What is your opinion of the issue raised in the chapter? What can be done in terms of policy/programming in response to this issue?

Public infrastructure project

Identify a major public infrastructure project that is either underway, complete, or proposed in your region. This could be a bridge, road, building, or something of that nature. For the project you have identified, think of as many stakeholders and stakeholder groups as you can. Create a three-column table. In column 1, list the stakeholders. In column 2, list what each stakeholder wants to get from the project. In column 3, list the influence each stakeholder has over the project.

Root causes” of migration

What do we mean by “root causes” of migration? Drawing on the lesson content and the readings, how might the consideration of root causes influence or shift the ways that immigration law and policy are formed and implemented?

Students will a) respond to the discussion prompt with one original response (250-350 words) and b) also respond to at least one original post from another student in a substantive manner (100-150 words). By substantive, I mean more than “I agree” or “that’s interesting.” I want you to elaborate: what do you agree with, and why? What specifically is interesting, and why do you think that?

Lab Leyden Jar

Lab 10 Leyden Jar.pdf

Lab 10 –Leyden Jar: PurposeStudents will build and experiment with a simple capacitor.TheoryThe Leyden Jar(“LIE-den”) was the first effective capacitor. Itholdscharge via polarization of atoms in the non-conductive jar walls onceit’sinduced thereby a voltage difference between the inner and outer conductive layers. The chargingterminalconnectedtothe jar’s internal conductor must be very smooth because pointy surfaces leak charge rapidly via coronal discharge. Figure 10:A classic Leyden Jar in cut-away.This activity uses the electrophorus and pith-ball pendulum from before.Procedure1.Find a bottle or jar made of glass or plastic and fill it with tap water, as this is a decent interior conductive body.2. Wrap the lid very smoothly in foil, and drape some around inside the lid and down so that when the lid is lightly threaded on, foil touches the water. If the foil is unavailable, a nail can be driven through the lid from the top so that the point sticks down into the water.3.If available, wrap the whole jar in foil up to about 2cm of the lid. It is very important that the exterior foil does not touch the lid. If the foil is unavailable, the bottle must be held in one hand when the charge is applied to the lid metal to act as the exterior conductor.4.Using an electrophorus, charge up the Leyden Jar by touching the charged electrophorus plate to the lid’s metal (meaning the foil on it or the nail).5. Without accidentally touching the lid metal and discharging the jar, try to use the lid metal to power a pith-ball pendulum: Lid metal on one side of it, finger on the other, very close but not touching. Oscillation of the pendulum between the two means it works.6. Assuming success up to this point, try to charge the jar, wait five minutes, and test it. Then try an hour. A well-designed Leyden Jar (much better than this one) can hold a charge for months!AnalysisAnswer the following on Canvas via complete, grammaticalsentences:1.Why is the outer conductive layer helpful when charging the jar? It isn’t even in contact with the lid and water! 2.The simplest general equation for the capacitance(effectiveness holding a charge) of a capacitor isC=εA/z. The three variables are: ε, the permittivity or polarizability of the insulating layer (in this case the glass or plastic); A, the total area of either conductive layer in contact with the insulator; and z, the thickness of the insulating layer: What are the three ways to improve a Leyden Jar, in theory, based on this equation?

International expansion

The most popular way for international expansion is for a local firm to acquire foreign companies. One of the most benefits of international expansion is global distribution capability that helps to expand the market share. There are different implications of running a company that is within or outside of the European Union. If you were the head of a firm based in the United States, please answer the following questions, providing the rationale behind your answers:
Would you seek to acquire a company within the European Union or outside of it? Why?
Describe the advantages and disadvantages of the choice you made.
Describe the advantages and disadvantages inherent in the option you did not choose.
Explain why an MNC may invest funds in a financial market outside its own country.
Explain why some financial institutions prefer to provide credit in financial markets outside their own country.

External Forces and Their Impact on Healthcare

Healthcare quality and safety are not solely dependent on the actions of individual providers and organizations A host of external forces exert a profound influence on what happens within any single healthcare organization or the behavior of any individual provider. Some of these external forces include accreditation bodies, regulators, legislatures, insurers, as well as many other entities. Sociopolitical forces, including the economy and public opinion, also play a role in how and how well healthcare is provided. It is also important to note that external forces can have extensive or minimal impact on quality, depending on the situation.
For this Discussion, you will select an external force and analyze how it may influence healthcare quality management. You will also determine whether the impact of the influence is positive or negative in nature.
To prepare for this Discussion:
• Review the Learning Resources.
• Choose a specific example of an external force that influences healthcare and safety, as discussed in Chapter 2 of your course text.
Post a comprehensive explanation of the following:
• Identify and describe the external force that you selected.
• Explain how the external force influences healthcare quality management.
• Determine whether the impact on healthcare is positive or negative. Justify your thinking with evidence.
