terrorist tactic

Terrorist Tactic

1.  Select one terrorist tactic (other than bombings) and explain how it has evolved over time.

I think one of the most notable ways terrorists use is assassinations. Assassinations and assassination attempts have been around for a long time and terrorists organizations have evolved to start targeting more high ranking targets like politicians, high ranking officials, etc. Although, it is now much easier and cost effective to strap a bomb to a vehicle or a suicide bomber or plant an IED somewhere with a bigger impact, assassination was tried and true for terrorist. terrorist tactic.

https://geniusproessays.com

Explain why homemade bombs (improvised explosive devices) have been such a popular choice of a weapon for terrorists?

Homemade bombs and IED’s have made their way to the battle field for a multitude of reasons. One, its relatively cheap and easy to make as long as you have the right qualified person doing it. Two, it can take out an entire humvee full of soldiers or a car full of people if done right. IED’s cause more impact and destruction and are easily hidden in the ground and it does not require a person to strap it to their chest and become a suicide bomber, although that also happens.

Fully explain the reasons why various bombs have been used as the most common terrorist tool.

There are so many advantages for terrorists to use bombs or IED’s to carry out their missions. Some IED’s are extremely hard to see or detect until it is too late, some bombs can be mailed to certain targets and blown up once opened or received. Some bombs can even be placed in vehicles and driven to a building and could completely level a building and everyone inside. Terrorists and even domestic homegrown terrorists are taking notice that it might be easier to assemble a bomb in their home and then send it to their target to destination and then blow it up just like Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber.

2.  Select one terrorist tactic (other than bombings) and explain how it has evolved over time.

One terrorist tactic that has dramatically evolved over time is the technology terrorists use.  At the time of the September 11, 2001 attacks, there were no smartphones that allowed immediate internet access or face timing.  Fast forward almost 21 years, and with the advancements in computers and telecommunications with more access to the internet, encryption, and virtual private networking, terror groups have been able to radicalize more individuals to their causes than before.  These advancements in technology has been able to allow terrorists to remotely and undetected, direct terror attacks anywhere and at any time across the globe.  With the increasing access to the internet worldwide since 9/11, terrorists have increasingly used the internet to radicalize individuals, as well as communicate and plan attacks (Harrison, n.d.)

Explain why homemade bombs (improvised explosive devices) have been such a popular choice of weapon for terrorists?

Homemade bombs or improvised explosive devices (IEDs) type weapons continue to be popular with terrorists because the materials to construct them are readily available, relatively easy to build, and very destructive.  IEDs are also popular with terrorists because they can be as small as a pipebomb that can be carried on a person or placed in an area where there is a lot of human or vehicle traffic and are not easily detected.  Entire vehicles can also be made into IEDs, which cause mass casualties and destruction.  The materials used to build IEDs are easily accessible as well.  The common materials used to make an IED are garden fertilizer, gunpowder, hydrogen peroxide, and a fuel source, such as fuel oil.  Some examples of terrorist IED attacks are the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 and the 1996 Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta (DHS, n.d.).

Fully explain the reasons why various bombs have been used as the most common terrorist tool.

For the same reasons IEDs are so popular with terrorists, so are the different variations of bombs.  Due to the ease of construction of various sizes of bombs that can be thrown or packed into a vehicle for a suicide attack or even mailed in a package, the sheer destructive power and ease of concealment make bombs the chosen weapon for terrorists.  Terrorists can also shape various types of bombs to explode in a specific direction to cause much more damage and death.  Additionally, due to the advancements in technology with cellphones and the internet, terrorists can configure various types of bombs to be detonated from many miles away (UNODC, n.d.).

Happiness and Well-Being Reflection Paper

Assessment 1 Instructions: Happiness and Well-Being Reflection Paper

https://geniusproessays.com/

· Write a 2-page paper reflecting on what you learned when completing a measurement related to well-being and how you can apply that to your life.

Happiness and Well-Being Reflection Paper

Introduction

Note: You are encouraged to complete the assessments in this course in the sequence in which they are presented. It is best to complete Assessment 1 first. Assessment 1 will help to prepare you for the other assessments. It is best to complete Assessment 4 last since it is the most complex of the four assessments.

Positive psychology explains that a person’s well-being can be described on a continuum from floundering at low levels of well-being to languishing at moderate levels of well-being, to flourishing by experiencing high levels of well-being. The goal of most psychotherapy is to help people with symptoms of floundering to move up to the less symptomatic and less painful level of languishing. The goal of positive psychology is to help people flourish, not just flounder or languish.

How are you? When asked, most people say “fine” or something similar without even thinking about it. But what if someone really asked you. How would you answer? Happiness and well-being are complex concepts that have different components to them. You might be happy about the promotion you received, but sad about the argument you had with your sister. You might be happy the week you are on vacation and a little sad when you return to your routine. Measurements, such as the Positivity Ratio Assessment and the Satisfaction with Life Scale, help you think about your well-being and happiness across different areas of your life or across time. In this assessment, reflect on what you learned when completing one of these measurements and how you can apply that to your life.

After studying  Module 6: Lecture Materials & Resources , discuss the following:

Mr. Perez is a 76-year-old Mexican American who was recently diagnosed with a slow heartbeat requiring an implanted pacemaker. Mr. Perez has been married for 51 years and has 6 adult children (three daughters aged 50, 48, and 42; three sons aged 47, 45, and 36), 11 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. The youngest boy lives three houses down from Mr. and Mrs. Perez. The other children, except the second-oldest daughter, live within 3 to 10 miles from their parents. The second-oldest daughter is a registered nurse and lives out of state. All members of the family except for Mr. Perez were born in the United States. He was born in Monterrey, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 in order to work and send money back to the family in Mexico. Mr. Perez has returned to Mexico throughout the years to visit and has lived in Texas ever since. He is retired from work in a machine shop.

Mr. Perez has one living older brother who lives within 5 miles. All members of the family speak Spanish and English fluently. The Perez family is Catholic, as evidenced by the religious items hanging on the wall and prayer books and rosary on the coffee table. Statues of St. Jude and Our Lady of Guadalupe are on the living room table. Mr. and Mrs. Perez have made many mandas (bequests) to pray for the health of the family, including one to thank God for the healthy birth of all the children, especially after the doctor had discouraged them from having any more children after the complicated birth of their first child. The family attends Mass together every Sunday morning and then meets for breakfast chorizo at a local restaurant frequented by many of their church’s other parishioner families. Mr. Perez believes his health and the health of his family are in the hands of God.

The Perez family lives in a modest four-bedroom ranch home that they bought 22 years ago. The home is in a predominantly Mexican American neighborhood located in the La Loma section of town. Mr. and Mrs. Perez are active in the church and neighborhood community. The Perez home is usually occupied by many people and has always been the gathering place for the family. During his years of employment, Mr. Perez was the sole provider for the family and now receives social security checks and a pension. Mrs. Perez is also retired and receives a small pension for a short work period as a teacher’s aide. Mr. and Mrs. Perez count on their nurse daughter to guide them and advise on their health care.

Mr. Perez visits a curandero for medicinal folk remedies. Mrs. Perez is the provider of spiritual, physical, and emotional care for the family. In addition, their nurse daughter is always present during any major surgeries or procedures. Mrs. Perez and her daughter the nurse will be caring for Mr. Perez during his procedure for a pacemaker.

1. Explain the significance of family and kinship for the Perez family.

2. Describe the importance of religion and God for the Perez family.

3. Identify two stereotypes about Mexican Americans that were dispelled in this case with the Perez family.

4. What is the role of Mrs. Perez in this family?

Research on Native Tools

Research Article on Native Tools for Mobile App Development

Assignment Brief: Research Article on Native Tools for Mobile App Development

https://geniusproessays.com/

The purpose of this assignment is for you to write a RESEARCH article that examines the problem: ” Are Third-Party Frameworks Viable Alternatives to Using Native Tools for Mobile App Development“. In your writing, you may NOT change this problem statement, but do develop at least 3 sub-questions ( research questions) that taken together specifically address this problem. A research question is one that can be tested quantitatively, qualitatively or based on some well-accepted basis (a method). For this assignment, therefore, you demonstrate your ability to follow research protocol by incorporating research components in your writing: Your paper must have the following components: AbstractIntroductionMethod (Exploratory – Limited Literature Review), Results, and Conclusion/Future Work (see details for each of these components in a article: ” Guidellines for Evaluation a Research article” under this week’s Learning Materials section),

Your assignment: First read (again) the article: Taxonomy of Cross-Platform Mobile Applications Development – notice how the author breaks the research problem into 6 measurable questions (Code is Resuable, Plugins, Easy for Web Developers, etc.).

Use any 3 of the 6 of these as your research question(s) – Note: customize the words to fit YOUR research problem.  Your Method – your Design here is: Exploratory – using a limited literature review. This means that you are relying on what you find in literature as your test. This design/method is limited because of the scope of this class and your research. Be sure to make this and circumstances clear both in your Introduction, Method, and Conclusion sections.

Your research question(s) must be appropriately tested in the literature that you cite. Therefore, you must cite at least 4 scholarly sources that support (or refute) EACH research question. Your Method section – that is, your limited literature review, might look similar to the “Previous Works” section in the article: Mobile_Apps_Development_A_Framework_for_Technology_Decision_Making_PROCEEDINGS, however, connected to YOUR study – your research problem).

  • Write a seven – ten (7-10) page paper that address your research problem – your paper should be: typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. See hand-outs provided on graduate and APA style research papers.
  • Use at least twelve quality resources (four that address each of your 3 research question(s); other citations may also apply. Note: Wikipedia, Blogs, Info articles, and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources for research writing.
  • In additiion to the above, cite at least one source that shows where this kind of Design/Method, a literature review, was used.
  • Include a cover page containing: a title for this assignment – title wording must match the original research problem, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference pages do not count toward the page count. Review the Helpful Information provided related to critical thinking and also follow the hand-outs provided in this week’s Learning Materials folder.

What are some pricing advantages and disadvantages in contracting with the government for business? Determine which major concern you believe is the most important to address and provide a rationale for your response.

Discussion 2

Thinking about a recent personal or professional project, consider what may have been direct and indirect costs of that project. Provide a brief summary of your project and identify each of the direct and indirect costs associated, providing an explanation for why they are direct or indirect. It is not necessary to provide the dollar amount of these costs, only the name of the costs and whether they are direct or indirect.

Discussion 3

Read the article  Solar Bait: How U.S. States Attract Solar Investments from Large Corporations . After reading, respond to the following:

1. Based on the “State Incentive Programs” explained on page 172 and Table 1 found on page 173 of the article, select a state and then identify two policies or programs listed for that state that encourage renewable energy generation in general and solar energy generation. Explain how these policies or programs can help you as a small business owner.

Solutions to Global Issues (5-7 sentences)

Discussion 1

Briefly, what nonrenewable natural resources are most at risk of depletion?

Discuss some sustainable development models that have broad applicability to the needs and consumption demands of both developing and developed countries.

Discussion 2

Chapter 2, “Wealth and Poverty,” in your textbook discusses the Millennium Development Goals, which were created to provide developing countries support through the partnership of developed countries. The first goal is to “eradicate extreme poverty and hunger” in the world.

According to the textbook, population is still increasing in the world’s poorest regions. Take a look at  The Millennium Development Goals Report [PDF] .

The report notes that progress in reducing extreme hunger is uneven across regions of the world. Looking at the graph on page 21 of the report, which regions have the least reduction in extreme hunger? Which regions have the greatest reduction in extreme hunger? What factors contribute to this uneven progress? What are some possible strategies for creating more progress in these regions of the world?
